Staying at The Haven, on the Cornish Riviera, means that you have officially 18 beaches nearby. Each beach has a different and exciting character, some of which are on the doorstep of The Haven, the very furthest only an 18 mile scenic drive.

We have identified the beaches on the following map and included a brief description of each beach and any nearby facilities. This information is provided as a guide only and could change without notice at any time.

As the beaches are extremely important to a family holiday, we welcome your feedback. This will enable us to keep our website information up to date and help visitors decide as to whether or not the beach is suitable to visit, in particular when accompanied with young children.

1    Tavern Beach and Summers Beach at St Mawes - 18 miles

Small south facing beaches of sand with scattered rock pools which show at low tide.

Facilities:-

  • One main car park
  • Nearby restaurants, cafe's and shops
  • Toilets
  • Boat trips during high season

 

2    Towan Beach - 16 miles

A spacious crescent shaped south east facing beach, consisting of sand and pebbles and generally uncrowded. This beach is accessed via a 250yd footpath.

Facilities:-

  • One small car park
  • Toilets

 

3    Portscatho - 13 miles

A scenic village beach that faces east overlooking Gerrans Bay. Predominantly rocky with some sandy patches mainly accessible during low tide

Facilities:-

  • One small car park 10 minutes from the village
  • Nearby cafe's and shops
  • Toilets

 

4    Porthcurnick - 13 miles

A wide sandy beach with rock pools and a slipway. The beach is private but access is allowed

Facilities:-

  • Portscatho car park 10 minutes walk
  • Nearby shop (Predominently open during high season only)
  • Toilets (Predominently open during high season only)
  • Slipway (Please check access prior to visiting)

 

5    Pendower beach - 10 miles

An extremely popular family beach which is south facing and is about a mile long enjoying fantastic views.

Facilities:-

  • Main car park adjacent to the beach, Very small car park on the cliff top
  • Toilets
  • Slipway (Please check access prior to visiting)

 

6    Carne beach - 10 miles

An extension of Pendower beach.

Facilities:-

  • Main car park adjacent to the beach, Very small car park on the cliff top
  • Toilets
  • Slipway (Please check access prior to visiting)

 

7    East and West Portholland - 11 miles

Two small stoney beaches with rocky outcrops besides these the two villages. Not accessible at high tide.

8    Porthluney Cove - 9 miles

A sheltered and sandy family beach which is south facing and ideal for enthusiastic beach games.

9    Hemmick Beach - 9 miles

A small sandy south facing beach that is normally isolated. This beach has no facilities and is reached via narrow lanes and has limited parking.

 

10    Vault Beach - 9 miles

A long sandy beach strip that is secluded and very often rarely busy. This beach is accessed via a 15 minute walk from the parking area through a number of fields and down a cliff park. No disabled access and not suitable for push chairs.

 

11    Gorran Haven - 8 miles

A popular wide and sandy beach with ample parking during high season.

12    Porthpean - 3 miles

Popular sandy family beach that gets very busy during the summer months.

13    Charlestown – 3 miles

A stoney private harbour beach ideally suited to rock pool adventures and evening strolls.

  • Small adjacent car park
  • Nearby local pub’s and small local shop
  • Toilets

 

14    Par Sands - 5 miles

A wide expanse of firm sand with dunes, very popular family beach. Sand still available at high tide

  • One large car park
  • Nearby pub, cafe's and shops
  • Toilets
  • Picnic area

 

15    Polkerris - 7 miles

A small and attractive west facing cove, sheltered by the harbour wall.

  • Small car park (Often full during high season)
  • Beach shop (Predominently open during high season only)
  • Toilets
  • Slipway (Please check access prior to visiting)

 

16    Poldridmouth Cove - 7 miles

Two south facing and secluded sandy beaches, which join together at low tide.

Access is via a 10 minute walk from the small car park at Menabilly along a rough track that is unfortunetly not really suitable for push chairs.

 

17    Readymoney Cove - 9 miles

A small and sheltered sandy beach on the outskirts of Fowey, overlooking the estuary. The cove is predominantly available during low tide.

  • One large car park in Fowey and a smaller car park adjacent to the beach
  • Nearby pub’s cafe's and shops in Fowey
  • Toilets

 

18    Lantic Bay - 15 miles

An isolated and attractive white sandy cove that has some shingle areas. Enjoys south facing views however has an extremely strong rip current, so it is advised that bathers take extra care.

Access is via a 15 minute walk down a steep path that is unfortunetly not really suitable for push chairs.
