The Eden Project

“The Eden Project communicates its story in a ‘Living Theatre of Plants and People’ based in a large crater in which nestle two vast greenhouses (Biomes). These house plants, crops and landscapes from the humid tropics and warm temperate regions and act as a backdrop to the temperate landscape, which we call the Outdoor Biome.” - An excerpt from the Mission statement on the official website.

Initially we visited the Eden Project unsure of, whether it was something that we would enjoy, whether the children would be entertained, we even doubted if it would have any impact on our holiday.

We now hold yearly renewable Eden Passports so that we can visit whenever we want, without having to pay entrance charges.

We are constantly amazed at how the whole site changes with the seasons and our young children (2 and 5 ½ ) always have a fabulous time.

The food and refreshments are first class and children are welcomed to the restaurants with a choice of their own special meals.

We are not affiliated to the Eden Project in any way. We just know from our own experience that you will have a great time, enjoying lots of space for the children, unbeatable scenery, enthusiastic staff, great food…the list is endless!

Charlestown

A Georgian port which has remained relatively unspoilt and undeveloped, Charlestown reflects how many West Country ports and fishing coves looked prior to modern development.

Lined with granite cottages, the dock which is home to several impressive sailing ships is an ideal place to wind down after a busy warm day.

Two local pubs ensure that good food and a cold drink is not too far away and the local pebble beach is great for that late evening stroll.

During the day however the Shipreck and Heritage Centre is bursting with local history, recovered treasure and some famous jewellry!

Charlestown is our nearest favourite destination – only 3 miles from The Haven.

Mevagissey

An historic fishing port, with a working harbour that dates back to 1774. Mevagissey is an extremely popular destination for all lovers of boats, pub lunches, ice cream, and small local shops.

With a 7 mile drive, enjoyed with relaxing scenery, Mevagissey is practically on the doorstep of The Haven

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

An immense complex of gardens near to Mevagissy, which were beautifully restored in the early 90’s. Heligan gardens have even enjoyed a four part TV series on Channel 4 back in 1997.

The gardens comprise eighty acres of pleasure grounds plus a complex of walled gardens and a huge vegetable garden.

An enchanting place to visit which has a unique and interesting history that just has to be read. Too much for this small section on our website so we urge you to visit and pick up one of the enthralling books on the gardens history.

Only a 6 mile journey from The Haven towards Mevagissey.

Truro

A bustling cathedral city and port boasting something special for visitors of all ages and varying interests - all the year round.

From flowing rivers to picturesque Georgian streets, 18th and 19th century town houses to the Victorian Cathedral dominating the city, Truro is ideal as a day or evening out and is less than 15 miles from The Haven

Falmouth

Located on the shoreline of the world's third largest natural harbour and the home of Cornwall’s maritime heritage.

For this unbeatable heritage, Falmouth hosts Cornwall’s famous Maritime museum, designed to be exciting for adults and children alike. We hope that this is at the top of everyone’s list of places to visit.

Although famous for its sandy beaches & castle, Falmouth is also full of restaurants, interesting shops, pubs and entertainment for the children.

A great day out that is still only a scenic 26 mile drive from The Haven.
